Barn Quilt Patterns.

This page offers a variety of quilt patterns that are appropriate for barn quilts. Since barn quits are often viewed from a long distance away, we recommend simple patterns with a bold and contrasting palette of colors.  We can also replicate a pattern from a treasured cloth quilt, upon request.

The Chatt Hills Barn Quilt Trail uses "traditional quilt patterns" for all of its barn quilts. To help you select a pattern, we've included some of our favorites from the Electric Quilt and Quilt Pro software programs. If you find a design you like, send us send us the name in the caption. (Hold your mouse over the image to see the caption. Click on the image for a larger view.) We can easily change the colors to suit your taste.
     A few tips to keep in mind:

• Smaller barn quilts (4x4 ft) should use simpler patterns.
• Larger barn quilts (6x6 or 8x8 ft) may use more complex patterns.
• Barn quilts installed a distance from the road should use simpler patterns as well, as the details will be lost in the distance.
