A Patchwork of Animals . . . Thank their lucky star
BreeAnne Clowdus & Courtney Howe fled the city for greener pastures when they found the perfect place to raise their three "rock star" kids and a few animals on a 15-acre farm in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia.
They started out with three animals in 2016, but as they shared their adventures on social media, friends began contributing animals in need of a good home. For their barn quilt, a custom pattern was created that features four patchwork animals, each with a lucky star. This "Barnyard Quartet" represents the 72 animals lovingly cared for at The Good Place Farm. |

Farm Life is . . . music to their ears
BreeAnne Clowdus, Courtney Howe, Daughter Vivianne, and twins Dashel and Shepherd care for 72 animals on The Good Place Farm.
After the family moved to their farm, they spent 18 months working with an amazing carpenter to clean up and renovate the property, and then they were off to the races!
They turned the garage into a rehearsal space for their kids’ band, added pasture after pasture to accommodate the many animals that would seek refuge on their 15 acres, and caught a hefty amount of fish in their little lake.
Their kids Vivianne, Dashel and Shepherd made music, made art, did schoolwork on hay bales, learned to drive a tractor, cared for animals, learned to grow and preserve their own food and soak up as much fresh air as their lungs would hold. It is a life they think Laura Ingalls Wilder would approve of and they feel so very lucky to live it. It’s also why they named their farm “The Good Place,” because they say, "Short of heaven, this is as close as you’re gonna get."

First generation farmers . . . share their heritage story
The history of Chattahoochee Hills is quite similar to other farming communities. The area was founded by pioneering families who received property through Georgia's land lot lottery and then established family farms. We call these generational families who still live here today, "heritage families."
The Good Place Farm represents a new generation of farming families. Many are like BreeAnne and Courtney, who discovered Chattahoochee Hills while on a visit to its popular Serenbe Hamlet, Cochran Mill Park, or just passing through on a weekend drive. They work in Atlanta in other professions, and may have never considered farming before. But the lure of this rural community only 45 minutes from metro Atlanta offers them the opportunity to have the best of both worlds.
